A photo from a cross country ski through the countryside near Smithers (Billeter Rd.)
The paintings show here are on sale and display at Kokopelli cafe until February 21st.
These paintings attempt to distill the essence of the winter mountain scenery into its elemental forms and colors. Here, I am trying to do more than capture a scenery or a moment-- I am struggling to understand the fundamentals of the land. In these paintings I use the forms, symmetry and lines of a tree as a lens to see the world. The stained glass, woven effect that results is a metaphor, like the windows of a Church. The flowing lines represent the inextricable interconnectedness of everything from the trees , earth, sky and people. I hope to show the blurred oneness of every part of the painting's world.
