Artist's Statement :

"My series of paintings ‘Colours of the Land’ distill the mountain scenery of North Western B.C. into its elemental forms and colors.  Here, I am trying to do more than capture a scene or a moment-- I am struggling to understand the fundamentals of the land.  Each season has a palette and range of forms of its very own.

The flowing lines that are the foundation of my style represent the inextricable interconnectedness of the landscape-- everything from earth, sky and man and land.  I strive to show the blurred oneness of the natural and human elements of the painting’s world.

Creation:
January 2007

On display at the Two Rivers Art Gallery in the group exhibition 'Spark'. Prince George BC, Feb 1st to April 15th 2007.

"A spark is a beginning— but when is a beginning truly a beginning? When does inspiration spark? Our days are filled with a flurry of beginnings and endings that blur into the ordinary. Thoughts are often inspired by no more than cause and effect from the world around us— a glance at an advertisement, a word out of someone’s mouth, a whiff of the world. Does inspiration ever transcend this chain? Some sparks are far more profound than others. In stillness, the soul has a chance to speak. "
