The Buckley
Valley.
The rolling hills, towering mountains, and alpine colours
of the Bulkley Valley, Smithers region have influenced greatly my
recent art. The following pieces have all been generated in this area
while working in an odd combination of harmonious (nature) and hectic
(office) environments. Reviewing my work this fall it is interesting
to see just how deep the juxtaposition of peacefulness and agitation
are represented in my pictures.
Coming soon: My Fall landscape scenes
from the Buckley Valley area will shortly be up on the web.
They are now on exhibit at a local gallery space here in Smithers.

Children's Swirls
fire,
acrylic, on canvas
20x32
Creation: September, 2004
I
add this painting to list as a testament to the productive fun you can
have with Children. A 2 year old and a 4 year old were are with paint
brushes and any colour of thier choice in the fabrication of this piece.
They were allowed to paint as they wished (including hand and foot prints!).
Gabrielle and I painted around them and ensured they didn't use too
much black!

Six Daisies
acrylic, on canvas
18x26
Creation: September, 2004
Instead
of defining the shape with black lines, I experiemented with white lines
and blocks of solid colour. The orginal looks much better than the photo
as the matte paint and textured colour add to the deceptive simplicity.
