Some traditional paintings...

A leafless
branch radiates form and pattern as a sillouhette on the winter sky.
"Upon
returning to Canada for Christmas from Costa Rica, the second thing
that startled me (after the cold) was the colour. The colour of winter.
At first, all can seem monotonously bleak-- there's seem to be nothing
by white, grey, black. However, with a little patience and observation,
one can be quickly overwhelmed by the richness of the winter pallette.
The setting sun turns the silhouette of a tree into a fascinating flat
two dimensional fractal pattern, tinged with orange and yellows. These
bright colours in turn bring out the hidden tones of blue and purple
of the snowy world. Just as medieval artisans would allow the sun to
glory God through their stained glass windows, the intricate patterns
formed by a window of trees, in like manner glorify the cathedral of
creation about them."
Following
the philosophy of his painting, Russell Maier gives all the pictures
he creates away. You may download desktop background images, and high
resolution, printable poster files from this website.
